There had been many calls made from the office to the operator, which they claim were not made by any of the staff. Phone conversations were being cut short when calls were being dropped mid-sentence. Sometimes the phone would ring, but when it was answered, it went dead. Ceiling lights would sway for no apparent reason. Occasionally a picture or a piece of furniture would move for no reason. The fluorescent lights would sometimes unscrew themselves and fall to the floor, and sometimes they would just explode. Several times the police and electricians were called to the office to investigate, but none of them were able to find any reason why these things were happening. The phone company could not figure out what was happening with the phone lines, and everything seemed to be in good repair.

Then one day Professor Hans Bender was called to the scene. He worked at the Freiburg Institute for the Study of Parapsychology. He had been researching, and had known that most poltergeist activity was unknowingly caused by young people, mostly female. He discovered that there was an 18-year-old woman who really hated her job, and informed the lawyer that she could very well be the cause of their problems. Her name was Anne-Marie Schneider. The activity continued during the entire time she worked there, and ceased the day after she quit her job.
