ScaryGeeks, Scariest Movies List

Posted by scarygeek on January 31, 2010 at 18:30 pm

So I was looking at some scary movie lists out there, and I can’t believe how many movies there are that I have never seen!  I must have looked through ten lists, just to see if I could find some that I had forgotten about.  Anyway, of the movies that I have seen in my lifetime, I will tell you that these movies are by far the best of the scary!

  • 28 Days Later – I thought this movie was pretty scary.  I tend to like those movies that are on the verge of being a real possibility.  This movie did not have any real big movie stars in it, but the acting was great, and it kept me on the edge of the couch…lol.  It was much better than I thought it would be.
  • Carrie – Was a great scary movie for its time.  I remember being pretty scared as a kid watching this one.
  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre – I didn’t see this movie until about five years ago, and the scary part about it was that there are probably towns just like this somewhere.  The bloody guts and gore scenes were really good too.
  • Saw – This one and all of its following sequels are all good for giving you chills up and down your spine.  The whole idea behind this one is the scariest of them all.  I think the one of the worst ones was in the second or third one when the girl falls into the syring filled pit.  Yuck, I hate the thought of thousands of pins being stuck in me.
  • Exorcist – This movie is the paranormal scary winner of them all.  I loved this movie, and as I said before, I first saw it when I was nine.  After that, it was very difficult for movies to scare me.  My favorite scene has always been when the demons make her head do a complete 360.
  • Silence of the Lambs – A ScaryGeek classic.  I may be a bit biased as I just love the acting in this one by Anthony Hopkins.  He is amazing, and so is this movie.
  • Pet Sematary – This movie was pretty scary, maybe not the best, but definitely enjoyed it.  I had just had kids when I saw it, and when the little boy gets run over in the beginning I cried.  Then he comes back and the scene in the hallway when he is dying and says, “no fair” just made me cry again.  I know, its supposed to be scary.
  • Alien – Definitely scary, and very good.  Those Aliens are the scariest of all Aliens that have ever been created.  Even better than the Predator.  This movie had me on edge the whole time.
  • Hostile - This is a movie I have not heard too much about, but it scared me because I know that there are really places like this, and that is something that makes me sick and scared at the same time.  Good movie if you like blood and guts, severed hands, fingers, toes, heads, you name it.

Well, this is just a list of some of my favorites, I will try to get a list of more together and post again.  Have fun.

The Very First Scary Movies I Ever Watched!

Posted by scarygeek on January 30, 2010 at 23:52 pm

I am not sure why I have this love of scary horror flicks, but I do.  I have been watching scary movies since I was a little girl, and I can’t even imagine allowing my little ones to watch the movies I watched at that age….lol.  I couldn’t decide which one was scarier than the other so it is a tie.  Remember back in the 70’s when all we had was the “Z Channel”…..wow, I remember it was the coolest thing ever.  Just a turn of one knob and you had instant movies at your finger tips.  Well, I was nine, and it was late.  I remember my parents let me stay up later then usual and I was all alone.  I turned that knob and I watched “Exorcist” all by myself, in the dark.  I remember I started watching it on the floor, and then slowly ended up in the corner of the couch with my feet up….lol.  It was that movie that got me hooked.  Nothing really scared me much after that.  Not the Omen, not anything, until…..”The Trilogy of Terror”….wow, that movie really freaked me out.  It had Karen Black in it too, and that little Voodoo doll, or Zuni doll they called it….yikes!  I kept looking at those razor sharp teeth and imagined it biting at my feet and legs.  I think I was 12 when I finally saw that one.  I have been wanting to get the movie and watch it now, but I would probably be disappointed.  They should do a remake of that one, now that would be good.  The special effects and computer animation that they can do now would make this movie much more realistic.  The end was the best, when Karen Black is sitting there with her sharp teeth and her knife, and she is stabbing at the floor.  I think she was waiting for her fiance to come home.  The Zuni doll was a gift for him.  It was great, I haven’t seen that movie in over 20 years, wow do I feel old.  Anyway, if you want to watch an old scary movie or two, these are sure winners.  I loved them both.  Well, have a scary day!
