Haunted Places – Calico Ghost Town

Posted by scarygeek on January 17, 2010 at 18:43 pm

When I was a little girl, my family and I went to the Calico Ghost Town, on more than one occasion.  I think my dad liked to walk with the ghosts…lol.  It was fun, and I remember running around and touring the area.  Calico Ghost Town was founded in 1881, and isan old silver mining town, located about 10 miles north of Barstow, California.  The town was purchased by Walter Knott, the owner of Knotts Berry Farm, in 1950.  He later dedicated the town to the city of San Bernardino, and it is now a County Regional Park.

They used to have a 90 minute guided ghost tour through the town, but I am not sure if they still have one or not.  It has been at least 25 years since I have been there.  They used to have them on Friday and Saturday nights, and they were taken after it got dark.  There have been reported sightings of apparitions and shadow people during tours and not.  I don’t really remember any events or encounters during the time that I was there, but I do remember the “feeling”, you know that one that you get when there is an energy trying to drain your own….lol.

Calico is a pretty neat little town, if you are ever close by, it is kind of a fun place to visit.  There have been reports of voices, as well as scents and sounds of a horse in the that used to be where the stage coach stopped.  Wow, a ghost horse…..haven’t heard of that one yet.

Since I have started writing about my paranormal experiences, and since my awareness has seemed to increase, I have been wanting to go back to all of those places that I visited as a child.  It would be fun to revisit those places that claimed to have been haunted.  Calico would be a very fun place to take my own kids, and see what kind of experiences we can have.  I plan on going back to the West Coast some time in the near future and will be making an effort to visit these places so that I can write about my own experiences.  Well, if you have any Calico Ghost Town stories you would like to share, I would love to read them and maybe even post them on my site, with your permission of course! Email them to lisa@scarygeek.com.  Thanks!  Happy Ghost Hunting!

UFO, California Drone? What Else Could It Be?

Posted by scarygeek on December 10, 2009 at 11:01 am

I have been doing some research on real documented UFO sightings, crashes, and abductions. In my search I have found a few, really good, videos. This one is of a UFO captured on video in California. There are shots of the actual footage, and then some enhancement work was done by LunaCognita….they did a great job. This is probably some of the most convincing video I have seen. There is one oddly shaped craft, and three orb or sphere-like objects around it. Toward the end two of the spheres look like they join the larger craft and then all of a sudden they are just gone. It’s crazy. I wish I could have seen that one with my own eyes…..great footage! Yes, another YouTube video…lol

Bloody Mary Ghost Opened Door and Scared Us All!

Posted by scarygeek on November 29, 2009 at 22:58 pm

When I was seven we spent a lot of time at the homes of relatives, and holidays were very special times when cousins from all over the state would come to visit. It was the Christmas of 1977 that me and twelve of my cousins decided to play an innocent little game of “Bloody Mary.” We were at the home of my cousin Jimmy, in Sylmar, California. His house had a the perfect hallway, we were able to close all five doors leading into the hallway, and at the very end was a full length mirror. There were no other kids in the house, and all of the parents were in the living room. At the far end of the hallway were two doors that led to the only two bedrooms in the house. Both were empty prior to us going in and closing all of the doors. It was pitch dark, the only light was from under the one door that led to the living room where all the adults were at the time. One, of my older cousins started to say the magic words….”Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary…….” When she said it the third time we all got quiet waiting to see what would happen. Well….it happened. We all turned to look toward the mirrored end of the hallway when we heard the handle of the door turning. What we saw scared the heck out of me and everyone in that hallway. There was a bright red, luminescent, hand and arm gaping eerily into the hallway, and opening the door. All I can remember is 13 kids running and screaming. In all the chaos and desperation I was nearly trampled on, and we all went out the opposite door and into the living room and we were all overwhelmed with the relief of salvation. We proceeded to sit looking at each other in blatant disbelief. Each of us sitting as close together as possible in silent panic. I remember looking around to see if any of the parents were missing, but they were all there. I don’t know what we saw that night, but we talked about it later in our teen years and everyone remembers seeing the same thing. I have been told several scary “Bloody Mary” experiences since that time, and I can tell you that I have never played that game again.

September 11 Precognitive Dream

Posted by scarygeek on November 4, 2009 at 12:43 pm

On the day of September 11, 2001 I was living in Canyon Country, California. We had no television at that time and you couldn’t get reception on a radio if you tried. I had two dreams on this morning that would have me shaking and occasionally crying for two weeks.

In the first dream there was only darkness. I was aware of being in what felt and sounded like a large passenger plane. I couldn’t see anything but I could feel and hear all of the people around me. Some were crying, some just talking frantically, and others were screaming. Then all of a sudden all I heard was just screaming, more screaming, and then silence.

Then I opened my eyes from the darkness and I was standing in the middle of a large office. I realized I was in a sky rise. I could see everything around me but there was only silence. I don’t often enter tall buildings but when I do I always go to the windows to look out. So, naturally, in my dream I walked to the window. I then saw that I was at top of this sky rise and when I looked out the window there were three buildings standing in a row directly in front of me. They all had dark smoke and fire coming out at the top. The sky was filled with smoke and then I could hear the screams again. I found myself at the bottom of the building standing in the street. The screams continued but now there were objects falling from the sky. I remember feeling like I needed to catch them. I looked around for something to catch them in. I found a box. I ran around trying to catch them but I couldn’t catch them all, I wasn’t fast enough there were too many. I felt so sad and sat helpless on the ground. It was about that moment when I was awakened by a loud knock on my front door.

I got out of bed very shaken from my dream. When I got to the door my neighbor was standing there crying. She knew that I had no television and wanted to tell me that someone just flown a jet into one of the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center. I was half asleep and not sure how to respond. I told them I would dress get the kids up and meet them at their house. I did not put two and two together until later that morning. It was during one of the news updates that I realized that I had been on one of those planes with all of those people, and an overwhelming sense of sadness hit me and I cried. Later during another update I saw the image in my dream. The four buildings all in a row burning. Even worse was when the people that could not get out decided they would rather jump than burn and then began jumping out of windows I realized it was them that I was trying to catch in my dream…..and I cried again.

I heard those screams and saw those images everyday for the next couple of weeks, and off and on over the next few months. I can hear them now. I know that there were many others out there who experienced precognitive dreams that morning. Some of them days, weeks, and even months before September 11, 2001.

I am very interested to hear from those people. If you or someone you know had a similar experience and would like to share, you can email me at lisa@scarygeek.com.

San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge – Ghost From the 40’s

Posted by scarygeek on November 3, 2009 at 02:33 am

If you like a ghost hunt and are in the San Francisco area the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge is home to one of the most sighted ghosts in California. It is said that in 1948 a man was driving on the bridge and ran out of fuel. The car stalled and he had to walk to a phone. As he was walking he was struck by a car and was killed. His apparition can be seen on the upper westbound deck. Most people that have seen him don’t know that they have seen a ghost because he just blends in with the crowd. They say when you see him he looks real and if you try to look at him directly he will disappear. Look for a man dressed in 40’s style raincoat and hat. If you see him let me know.
