Haunted Places – Pantages Theater

Posted by scarygeek on January 21, 2010 at 19:07 pm

When I was in elementary school I remember we had a field trip to the Pantages Theater in Hollywood, California.  I remember the interior was really quite beautiful, and made me think of a castle, or palace.  The Pantages is located at 6233 Hollywood, Blvd, and yes, it is haunted.  The theater was originally completed in the 1930’s, and was a stage theater.  In 1949, it was purchased by Howard Hughes, and it became part of old RKO Pictures, and it was turned into a movie screen theater.  In 1967, it was purchased by Pacific Theaters, and was then turned back into an all stage theater, and the Broadway Touring Company performed there.  There is a reason for me giving you all of this information before we talk about the hauntings, and I am getting to that…..lol.

Since 1932, there has been a woman spirit that visits when the theater is dark and quiet.  She is believed to be a woman who was a patron, and who also had dreams of becoming a performer, died during one of the performances.  They say her singing can be heard, day or night.  Once, during a performance in 1994, her voice was picked up during a live performance, and they said she was singing along with the performers.

Howard Hughes, supposedly haunts the second floor in and around what used to be his office, and is now a large conference room.  Employees have reported cold spots, and sudden passing of air, like someone walking by.  Twice, there have been reports of a tall male entity, walking around the corner to what used to be his office, and sometimes there is even the scent of a smoke.

Alexander Pantages, was a very gentlemanly man, and his ghost is said to have helped an older employee of the theater, after she fell down in the theater when it was dark, and she could not see.  Apparently, he took her by the arm and escorted her to the door and when she turned the lights on to thank him, there was no one to be found.

I did not experience any paranormal activity while I was there, but it sure would be fun to go back, and see what I could find now.

Bitten By A Black Widow Spider

Posted by scarygeek on January 8, 2010 at 20:15 pm

Probably one of my most scary experiences ever, was the night I was bitten by a Black Widow spider.  I was out cleaning the yard earlier in the day, and while I was trimming bushes, I came across a Black Widow spider that I accidentally killed with my glove.   I felt bad for killing it, as I don’t like to kill any living thing insect or otherwise, especially if it is outdoors.  It was a warm day, one of the warmest of the summer, and we turned the air conditioning on for the first time all year.  There was a vent right above my bed, and I guess I should have checked them all when I turned the air on.  Well, I went to bed and curled up under the covers as usual, when all of a sudden I felt a horrible itchy feeling.  I scratched and tried to go to sleep, but not ten seconds a later it started to become more intense, and I had a strange feeling that I had been bitten by something.  In the time it took me to get up and run to the bathroom to check my back, I could feel my lymph nodes swelling, and they started to ache.  I looked into the mirror and I saw three large red spots on my back.  I turned on the light and went to my bed, lifted the covers and found a squished black widow.  I guess it had flown out of the vent and into my bed, and somehow I managed to roll over it and get bit, not once, but three times.  By now, the itch was unbearable, and the pain was getting worse.  I called the urgent care and they told me that people get bit by black widows all of the time, and that I should just take a Tylenol and go to sleep.  Okay, I thought, my dad has been bitten a couple of times and he is okay, so I took the Tylenol and jumped into bed again.  Of course, I couldn’t sleep, not because I was scared, but because I started to experience muscle spasms over my entire body, which made me feel like I was giving birth again.  I was sweating, and felt these strong spasms in my bladder and stomach.  So, I decided to call the doctor again, and they said I could come in if I felt I needed to.  I called my mom, who lived only a couple of miles away, but by the time she got there I was in extreme pain.  I tried to walk outside and my knees gave out.  It was a horrible feeling.  When I got to the emergency room my heart rate was in the upper 170’s to 240’s, my respiration’s were elevated, and I could feel my heart beat pounding through my chest.  We brought the spider with us, and they confirmed it as a black widow, and then they decided they should give me the anti-venom, after the Valium and anti-anxiety medications weren’t working.  After the dose of anti-venom everything was better.  I had residual symptoms for about a week, almost like having a bad flu.  I couldn’t work for a week.  I stay away from black widows now, and definitely watch my kids in areas that they like to hide.

Residual Energy Imprinting

Posted by scarygeek on December 20, 2009 at 13:24 pm

When I was a young child I would go to places like the desert, mountains, and rivers. Every once in a while I would have an experience where I would pick up a rock, or touch something like a tree or the side of a mountain, and I would see very clearly in my mind like a movie, events and people. Sometimes, I could even hear voices. I would just sit there in one position and let it all play out in my head. I never really thought much about it, and as I got older it happened less and less. Probably because I stopped visiting a lot of those places. I still, to this day, can shake a persons hand, or give them a hug, and get little visions of things they have done or will do. Not always a good thing…..lol, and it doesn’t happen for everyone.

Residual Energy Imprinting – Hauntings, are those hauntings that appear to be like a movie. You can see them, but they don’t seem to be aware of you, they just continue in to play over and over the same scene that caused the imprinting. The more powerful or intense the scene that occurred the greater the chance for the imprinting into the surroundings is imprinted. For instance, the battle at Gettysburg. There have been many sightings of ghosts there, and there is a good chance that if you go there, you WILL see one. It doesn’t have to be a traumatic event either. Some residual hauntings are caused by a person spending so much time in one place. An example would be, a friend of mine who had a little old lady ghost, who carried her groceries through her hallway several times per week, or the ghost at the piano where the player must have spent hours and hours of his time playing.  You are leaving imprints every day in your own homes.  If you ever wondered why it feels so good to sleep in your own bed, well, its not that your mattress is the best in the whole world, its that you spend most of your time in that bed.  You personal energy imprinted in that spot that feels so good when you sleep.

Well, that is all I know, and I am sticking to it. If you have any experiences with residual energy imprinting that you would like to share, please email me or leave me a comment.

Ghost on the Swing

I have been looking for some documented ghost stories to share. I found this video on YouTube of a young woman who tells her own personal experience with a ghost when she was 13. This is the same age as my daughter who has also been experiencing some paranormal activity. I think this is an age when we are very open to the spirit world. The story is long but it is a good one and I believe every word she is saying, but you decide.

Paranormal Activity

Posted by scarygeek on October 25, 2009 at 21:46 pm

I finally had the opportunity to go and see “Paranormal Activity” and I have to say that it hit way too close to home for me. Activity has escalated here at the house over the last few days and so I will no longer be posting any further updates until I can figure out what is going on. I want to be sure that it is safe for my family. The fact that I have had most of the experiences contained in this film it was quite disturbing to me. I tried to pay attention to the reactions of the audience and I can say that most of them felt the same. Aside from the irritating nausea I felt from the constant movement of the camera that this is one of the top ten scariest films that I have seen. I don’t want to go in to detail about it. While most skeptical people will not appreciate it and probably walk out of the matinee saying that they were happy they didn’t pay full price, anyone who has had even the smallest paranormal experience will at least appreciate it’s worth, but I don’t advise going alone……
