I fell asleep pretty quickly and about 35 minutes after I fell asleep, I woke up to a text from my 13-year-old daughter.  The first text I missed, and it just said, “Mommy,” the next one that I woke up to said, “Mommy Help.”  So once again I ran down stairs to find my daughter lying in bed and very scared.  I asked her what was wrong and she said that there is a face in the television.  I looked, but I could not see anything.  She refused to look in the direction of the screen, and said that it was the scariest thing she had ever seen.  She just described it as a white face with no eyes, but “very scary.”  When I touched her she was trembling.  I really hate that she is going through this, and I know that she tries to make them go away, and isn’t really afraid.  She just does not like it when they are persistent and won’t just leave her alone. 

I sat with her for a while so that she could go to sleep, and of course I could hear the footsteps in the attic again. I have heard rodents and know what those sound like, but these are not rodents.  They are the sound of the footsteps of a large person. 

The other night we went up stairs to get bins from the attic.  I had a funny feeling in my gut and my daughter looked towards the back of the attic, and claims she saw a full apparition.  She said it was as if it were a real person standing there.  I decided we would come back up later when my husband got home, just in case it were a real person.  I have heard crazier stories. 

Well, that is all that has happened during the last week.  I do keep hearing them in the stairway, attic, and in my room, but have not seen what my daughter sees.  I only have that feeling that something else is present.  I try to speak to them, but no response so far.  We will let you know though.

Last night she woke me up with a text message at 11:30pm.  She was very upset and was crying.  She asked me to come down stairs because it won’t let her sleep.  So, once again, I kissed my husband good night and went down stairs to try and talk her through it all.  When I got down there she was crying, and I asked her why.  She said, that she is not sure why, but she always has to wait for all of her brothers and sister to fall asleep before she can even think about sleeping,  She feels like she has to protect them, and thinks it is because she is the oldest one.  I completely understood how she felt, because this was me when I was her age, except that I have me for a mother and Jason for a father.  We are trying to get her to see that this energy feeds off of fear, and that we need to stay strong, and make it go away.  She was still upset, and I think this not sleeping is finally taking a toll on her, and she just wants to sleep.

Well, now I am getting angry, and I decided to go one further than the circle, and I grabbed the sage, gave her a piece and kept one for myself.  I lit them both and we walked every corner of the house, especially the closet and stairway.  I ordered it to leave and she repeated after me…..and we did this through the whole house.  Then I had her come sleep with me in my room so that we could both get some sleep.  The house seemed to feel better afer the sage, and we were able to sleep.  We will see what happens tonight.

Well, I slept okay, but my daughter did not sleep at all last night.  She left her phone in her locker over the weekend, and did not have the ability to call me or text me.  She had stayed up for most of the night with the ghosts in the house pounding on her bathroom door asking her to let them in.  She said they wouldn’t stop, and that it sounded like there were two of them.  They kept knocking, shaking, and pushing on the door.  She said that they asked her why she wouldn’t just open the door for them.  She asked them to go away several times, but they then asked her why she wanted them to go, and why wouldn’t she open the door.  She said that they kept at it for hours and she looked exhausted.  She was shaking and crying when I got to her room.  I laid with her on the couch and put her to sleep and kept her home form school today so she could sleep. 

Within seconds of writing my story last night about the updates and the negative energy, the bracelet that my daughter made for me broke off…..not a coincidence I am sure. 

I guess we were not the only ones who were having problems with the paranormal last night.  When my husband got to work, the woman who works night shift, said that she kept hearing things in the building and no one else was around.  She had to get up and walk the building 4 times just to make sure there was no one else around.  My husband and I are starting to think it is just because this town is so old, and there are lots of old buildings, that there is a lot of ghost activity here. 

I have been wanting to visit the towns largest cemetery.  I am not sure why, but it seems to be calling me to it.  I am hoping to get out there before we leave this town to do just that.  I am sure that I will get some evidence of some kind to post on this site.  Well, that is all for now….have a scary day!

It is said that ships manned by a ghostly crew still travel the oceans in the dead of night, especially during storms.  They are said to be replaying their last voyage, before their ships were destroyed and sand into the depths of the ocean.  They seem to reappear in the same areas over and over again.  Maybe it is the violent destruction of the ship, and the death of the crew, that has left an energy imprint over the ocean.

The Flying Dutchman

The Flying Dutchman, is by far, one of the most famous of these phantoms ships, and has been seen traveling full sail over the ocean, accompanied by an eerie light.  It is said to be a bad omen to see the Flying Dutchman.  Sometimes her Captain, Hendrick van der Decken, tries to get close enough to other ships, as to hand them a letter.  I am not sure why, but those that accept this letter are not to be heard from again.  According to legend, the was on its way to the cape of Good Hope off of South Africa, when it hit a storm and either was unable to reach the harbor, or refused to seek refuge there.  The rest is history, and sighting of this ship have been recorded in the logs of many vessels.   The lighthouse Keepers at Cape point have also reported seeing this phantom ship sailing in the harbor. 

Ship of Skeletons

Another phantom ship with a ghostly crew, well skeleton crew, is the Libera Nos, which is another Dutch merchant vessel like the Dutchman.  This ship seems to appear out of no where, and all of her crew, from the Captain to the lookout in the crows nest, is seen as a skeleton.  It is said that this ship is condemned to sail the ocean forever. 

Palatine Lights

Once in a great while there are very bright lights seen between Block Island and Rhode island.  They appear suddenly and then seem to disappear into the sea.  Some have described the lights as looking like a ship that is burning and then sinks into the water.  In 1738 a ship wrecked on the island, and it was carrying immigrants from the Palatinate.  Some say that all of the passengers were murdered by the island natives.  No one is really sure what became of the passengers, but the ship was burned.  The lights are now called the Palatine Lights.

I don’t know about you but seeing the lights might be fun, but I will pass on seeing the Flying Dutchman.

I think that I have missed a few eipisodes, so I am not sure how these two brothers, Dean and Sam, became Monster Hunters, but apparently they are fighting to save the world from Lucifer.  This particular episode took place in a Mental Hospital, where Dean and Sam, have become patients, in order to investigate some deaths, that were reported as suicides, but thought to be the work of a supernatural being, in this case, a Wraith.  This is the first time I have heard of this word, and even after trying to do some research in the encyclopedias, and reference books, could only come up with a few definitions.  Most of the information online is from gamer sights, so more of a fantasy take.

From what I can gather, the word Wraith, comes from Scottish dialect.  It has a few different meanings and those I could find were, ghost, spectre, apparition, messenger of death, holy figure, the apparition of a dead person, and the best of them all, a black man-shaped cloud, that seeks to absorb human energy.  So, I think it is more of a general term used for all of these, and it is used most in Scottish literature, fantasy, folklore.  The word seems to have first been used as far back as 1513, in fantasy literature, and was used to describe evil or dangerous beings.

I have also read that a Wraith is a body double, which acts a messenger of death.  To see your own Wraith, it then becomes a Fetch, and is a messenger of your own death within the year.  So, this definition reminds me of what a Banshee might also be, or at least similar to.  If there is anyone that knows more about the Wraith, I would love to hear about it, and also add it to my site.  Please, email me at lisa@scarygeek.com.

They used to have a 90 minute guided ghost tour through the town, but I am not sure if they still have one or not.  It has been at least 25 years since I have been there.  They used to have them on Friday and Saturday nights, and they were taken after it got dark.  There have been reported sightings of apparitions and shadow people during tours and not.  I don’t really remember any events or encounters during the time that I was there, but I do remember the “feeling”, you know that one that you get when there is an energy trying to drain your own….lol.

Calico is a pretty neat little town, if you are ever close by, it is kind of a fun place to visit.  There have been reports of voices, as well as scents and sounds of a horse in the that used to be where the stage coach stopped.  Wow, a ghost horse…..haven’t heard of that one yet.

Since I have started writing about my paranormal experiences, and since my awareness has seemed to increase, I have been wanting to go back to all of those places that I visited as a child.  It would be fun to revisit those places that claimed to have been haunted.  Calico would be a very fun place to take my own kids, and see what kind of experiences we can have.  I plan on going back to the West Coast some time in the near future and will be making an effort to visit these places so that I can write about my own experiences.  Well, if you have any Calico Ghost Town stories you would like to share, I would love to read them and maybe even post them on my site, with your permission of course! I believe with all of my being, that these anomalies are of a spiritual nature, and not just water droplets, dust particles, and insects.  They are the life force energy of people and other living things, or ghosts in the shape of balls of light.  It is said that the orb shape or ball shape takes much less energy to manifest than a full apparition or larger form.  These spirit orbs are found hovering over the heads of family and our pets, and it seems that they increase in number when there is a lot of activity going on, especially celebrations like birthdays and Christmas.  We took photos in our house when there was not much going on, but felt a presence and have gotten orbs in the general area of the the energy we felt.  We have also played with kids, and had a lot of fun putting trimming our tree at Christmas, and found many orbs which appeared to follow us and hover over our heads.  Some even try to get in on group pictures.  Their energy is felt and the pictures are just proof that they are here with us, taking in our positive energy, and enjoying being in our presence.

They are transparent and often have a dark spot or spots in them, and have been known to have what appear to be faces in them.  They are sometimes colorful and can be seen in white, reds, blues, greens, and sometimes are even multicolored.  Sometimes they are even photographed moving quickly through a room or even through doors and walls.  I don’t believe them to be harmful in any way.  We have become so comfortable with our spirits that we welcome them to join us in our activities so that we may take more pictures, and always seem to be there.  We ask them to protect us, and even to guide us at times.  We feel lucky to be so aware of them, and surrounded by so many.
