I was reading the news articles today on Yahoo, and I found out that Zelda Rubinstein died from complications, after suffering a heart attack only two months ago. She was only 76 years-old. She is probably best known for her part in one of my favorite movies, for its time, “Poltergeist..” She played the medium that cleansed the house at the end of the movie, Tangina Barrons. I remember her very distinctive voice as she said, “This house is clean!” She played in many other parts on shows like “Picket Fences” and “Under the Rainbow.” She was 47 when she got her first part, which is a little old to start and acting career. She was only 4 ft. 3 inches tall, and had a unique look to her, and I always loved her part in the movie “Poltergeist.” One thing that I did not know, was that there was supposedly a “curse” on the whole “Poltergeist” movie. It was kind of like the Bruce Lee curse, but worse. Several actors died from the time of the first movie in 1982 to the last in 1988.
Dominique Dunne, who played the eldest daughter, was strangled by her abusive boyfriend in her driveway when she refused to reconcile with him in 1982. She was only 22 years-old.
Heather O’Rourke was the youngest daughter in the movie, and in she became ill in 1987 and was misdiagnosed with Crohn’s disease. She had actually had a bowel obstruction which caused her to become septic, and died when she went in to cardiac arrest during her surgery.
Will Sampson, died in 1987 at the age of 53. He was ill prior to the filming of Poltergeist. He was in need of a kidney transplant, and died of kidney failure.
Julian Beck had a major role in Poltergeist II, and was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 1983, and died two years later at the age of 60.
Lou Perry was murdered at his home in South Austin, Texas, in 2009.
I guess most of these can be labeled coincidence, but during those few years between 1982 and 1988 they are not so sure. They call it the “Polergeist” curse……Rest In Peace, Zelda!

Okay, so the kids and I were in the living room today when we heard a loud noise coming from the fireplace. Well, knowing that Santa does not arrive until late at night when we are all sleeping, we knew it wasn’t him. I walked over to check it out and the kids stood there watching, but there was nothing to be found, except that the fire that we had going was now out. Yep, no fire! Go figure…tried to turn it back on but it would not light. So, we let it sit for a while and then returned a few minutes later to turn it on, and it was fine, it lit on the first try. Then, all of a sudden there was a sound from the tree, and you could see that someone had either rustled it or walked along side it, running their hands along its branches, pushing the decorations along with it and you could hear the decorations jingling. Well, this was strange, the kids all looked at each other. I was about three feet away from the tree and the kids were standing more than five feet away, along the couch, but we all saw it. We will be taking pictures this evening to see if we can catch it taking part in our activities tonight. The kids are now starting to realize that it is not here to harm us, but to be around us. Well, I will let you know what we discover!

Well, we continue to have ghostly encounters with our very own poltergeist. Most of the activity surrounding our children, but occasionally I still have experiences. Last week, my daughter called me down stairs at about 2am. She told me that she keeps seeing someone in the kitchen, a shadow figure, and that she is hearing voices. I went down stairs and laid down with her, as I always do when they are having these experiences, and waited for her to fall asleep. Well, I began to close my own eyes, when I started to hear voices too. The voice was loud like it was in the same room, and it started to say, “You are……” and then I opened my eyes, but no one was there. The only thing different was that the room seemed to be occupied by something other than me and my four kids. I thought, this is crazy, and tried to close my eyes again…..well, this time I heard it again, same thing….and when I opened my eyes, still nothing. My kids were finally asleep though, so I figured they would be okay. I went back up to my room, and the kids were able to sleep the rest of the night without a problem.
Another thing that has been happening quite frequently, is that our children continue to see and hear something in the downstairs bathroom. I don’t get it, but they will be fine one minute and the next they are running out of the bathroom screaming. I have gone in to investigate, but have found nothing. I even close the door now when they take a bath or they won’t stay in the tub…..its crazy. I know that some of these things may just be imagination, but I also know the experiences that I had as a child, and they can also be very real. I can’t just ignore their fears, but I can try to help them through them by not being afraid and trying to explain things to them so they will understand.

It was during the late 1960’s when a lawyer’s office in Rosenheim, Germany, began to experience some unusual activity. There had been many calls made from the office to the operator, which they claim were not made by any of the staff. Phone conversations were being cut short when calls were being dropped mid-sentence. Sometimes the phone would ring, but when it was answered, it went dead. Ceiling lights would sway for no apparent reason. Occasionally a picture or a piece of furniture would move for no reason. The fluorescent lights would sometimes unscrew themselves and fall to the floor, and sometimes they would just explode. Several times the police and electricians were called to the office to investigate, but none of them were able to find any reason why these things were happening. The phone company could not figure out what was happening with the phone lines, and everything seemed to be in good repair.
Then one day Professor Hans Bender was called to the scene. He worked at the Freiburg Institute for the Study of Parapsychology. He had been researching, and had known that most poltergeist activity was unknowingly caused by young people, mostly female. He discovered that there was an 18-year-old woman who really hated her job, and informed the lawyer that she could very well be the cause of their problems. Her name was Anne-Marie Schneider. The activity continued during the entire time she worked there, and ceased the day after she quit her job.

As you all know, I have been dealing with ghosts since I was a little girl, but lately the hauntings seem to be focused on my own children. Mainly, my 13-y. his type of haunting is usually caused by a mischievous ghost that likes to play games by moving or throwing things around a room. There has been some recent research on this amazing and sometimes frustrating phenomenon, and they are now saying that this activity may very well be caused by a teenage female person living in the home. There is something that happens to a female at this age that causes an unconscious projection of psychokinetic energy, which attracts a mischievous ghost or spirit, who feeds on this energy and causes havoc in our world.
I believe this is what is happening in our family right now. I know that my daughter has a very strong spirit and an energy that is very powerful. Last night she woke up coughing, we are all suffering from allergies right now and hers seems to be worst at the moment. When she got up to get a glass of water and returned to her room she heard the fan light chain click, and then about five minutes later she heard it again. She laid in bed and then heard and saw her little brothers crib shaking. She said it shook for about ten seconds and then just stopped. JC was sound asleep, and didn’t budge. She text me at that time, asking me to come down stairs, and I told her I would be down in a minute. I then received a phone call from her about a minute later saying that she saw something push or kick on Jacobs bed, so I ran down stairs to investigate.
I did not see anything, except that my 11-year-old son had been awakened by something, but he wasn’t sure what it was. I stayed downstairs in the kids room for about fifteen minutes and made a few requests for the ghost to come back another time, because were all tired and did not want to talk now. The kids were able to go back to sleep and I was able to go back upstairs to work and the house was quiet for the rest of the night.
